Months ago, I decided to run my first 5k. It's only 3 miles. The run was to raise awareness and funds to revitalize the LA River. I'd been wanting to check out the LA River more and be more involved in its restoration. I got my roommate's boyfriend and my neighbor to register. Then I couldn't register because they reached their cap of 400 runners.
So, I crashed it! It was a wonderful experience. We began at 7:30am and it was a hazy morning along the LA River in Los Feliz. It took me about 29 minutes to run 3 miles.
I plan to run more 5ks, then 10ks, and maybe at least once in my life, I'll run a marathon. Next time, I'll even register.
I love it: the cause, crashing the event, and most importantly the long-term commitment for a good cause. It's amazing that you still had a chance to take a picture, unless it was done some other time.
